Ohio Valley Retriever Club

About Us

The Ohio Valley Retriever Club (OVRC) primarily operates in central/east central Ohio with membership from all over the state.  We are an AKC sanctioned Retriever Club who focuses on the Hunting Retriever and also a member of the Master National Club; a standing which qualifies our events for Master National points for the National event held each year.

We hold monthly training days throughout the year to teach, train, and simulate test conditions for our dogs.  These days are dedicated for members and guests to advance the skills in both training and handling the beginner, intermediate and advanced retriever.  Club members participate and share the workload as well as run their dog in various set-ups.  Our membership background includes Field Trialers, Hunt Testers, and Duck Hunters. All are made to feel welcome and all can provide valuable assistance in furthering your retriever.

OVRC holds two AKC Hunt Tests per calander year. Our spring test is held in late April and the fall test in mid/late September. OVRC Hunt Tests are generally 2 or 3 day events, depending on the venue.  We host 1 Field Trial per year in the Spring.  In addition to world class event organization on challenging grounds, we complete the experience with a fantastic banquet dinner on Saturday evening for all Judges, Handlers, and Volunteers from the weekends event. We believe this time to share dinner with friends, participate in the raffle, and honor the passing marks is an evening you will remember fondly.

We welcome your interest in Club Membership or happy to answer additional questions about our Hunt Test events.
