The purposes of Ohio Valley Retriever Club shall be:

• To encourage and promote the breeding and training of pure-bred retrievers and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection;
   
• To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the respective breeds of retrievers, and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at field trials and hunting tests;
   
• To conduct sanctioned and licensed field trials and hunting tests under the rules of the American Kennel Club, as well as informal practice trials and hunting tests.
